The Software Engineer designs and develops small software
components, and sub-systems under the broad direction
of the software architect and the engineering manager.
The Software Engineer will assist in delivering component
pieces of the project as well as resolving defects
in the product. The Software Engineer will also be
responsible for scoping, evaluating and fixing customer
defects as issues arise. The Senior Engineer must
be skillful in the art of object-oriented programming
and be exposed to web application development either
in previous jobs or part of class projects.
- Plans, designs, and implements small software
components
- Assists in diagnosis and fixing product defects
- Learns from senior engineers in the group
- Works with Engineering and Manager in scoping,
planning, and scheduling tasks
- Assists the QA team in assessing testability of
the system
- Assists engineering management in the creation
and implementation of engineering processes and
procedures
- 1 - 4+ years in software development (See Fresh
grad requirements below)
- 1+ years in web application development
- 1+ years in relational database design and development
- 0 - 2 years of commercial software development
experience
- Skilled in object-oriented programming
- Java, JavaScript experience required
- Tomcat and Struts experience a plus
- Understanding SQL is required
- Exposure to any one of Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server
- Web Services and XML/XSL a plus
- BS CS/EE required with 0 – 4 years experience.
Fresh BS/MS/Ph.D CS/EE graduates (who have already
graduated or will graduate by Jan 31) with appropriate
exposure to above technologies with prior internships,
field or strong programming-oriented coursework
with no prior industry experience may also apply.
