The User Interface Designer/Workflow Expert will be responsible for designing and documenting innovative, intuitive and user friendly graphical user interfaces for our web application software. The User Interface Designer will work closely with our customers, field personnel, product management and engineering to perform workflow and task analysis, gather requirements and design new as well as improve upon our existing user interface around workflow and reporting. The User Interface Designer is an expert in visual design, highly experienced in the entire iterative design process from requirements gathering through design and prototyping with expertise in all of: workflow and user interface design in enterprise class web application software and designing user specific reporting.
This is a contract position with an initial duration of 3 - 4 months reporting to the Vice President of Engineering and Product Management and may lead to subsequent future contracts and extensions for the right candidate.
- Design and develop new user interface for workflow and reporting as well as change/update existing user interface as applicable
- Work with customers, product management, engineering and field personnel to gather and refine requirements and deliver an innovative, user-centered interface for our product
- Work with manager in scoping, planning, and scheduling the UI design project
- Produce mock-ups and design specification for review by internal teams and customers
- Highly skilled expert in the UI design field, concepts, practices, and procedures
- 5+ years in designing and documenting graphical user interfaces for enterprise client-server or web applications. A minimum of two years must have been on web applications.
- 3+ years prior experience in workflow design
- Highly proficient in user-centered design practices
- Expert level knowledge of design support tools
- 1 - 2 years following through the design, development, customer release, and subsequent UI enhancement of a complex commercial software system
- Proven experience with usability evaluation techniques to test interface designs within a fast paced iterative development framework
- Prior experience with designing interfaces for reporting or business intelligence applications is a significant advantage
- Experience in implementing user interfaces a plus
- Degree in a field such as human-machine interaction, graphic or information design or related combination of formal training and experience
- Demonstrable experience in improving ease of use, workflow and reporting
- Ability to inherently understand end users and be able to clearly articulate their needs and behavior
- A highly creative mind focused on developing intuitive user friendly interfaces
- Ability to understand and balance business, creative and technical goals to drive user-interaction
- Excellent inter-personal and oral and written communication skills
- Receptive to team input
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Self motivated and strong initiative and sense of ownership and urgency
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
