WAKEFIELD, Mass., June 14, 2007 – Certica
Solutions, a leading provider of data certification
solutions, today announced that Deer Park Independent
School District, located 20 miles southeast of Houston,
has selected Certica’s data certification solution
to allow the district to improve the quality of data
that they report to the state of Texas.
Certica’s data certification solution, called
Certify™, is used to validate, monitor and report
on education data at federal, state and local levels,
helping agencies to ensure accountability, allocate
funding accurately, and reduce the time and labor
costs associated with data management and reporting.
Deer Park Independent School District, comprising
fourteen schools and more than 12,000 students, faces
the challenge of providing high-quality data four
times each year to the Texas Education Agency. Each
data submission must be free of errors and omissions,
and be an accurate reflection of the district’s
student population. Many state education agencies,
including Texas, have strict schedules that outline
the period of time in which school districts can submit
data, making it difficult for districts to clean up
and submit data in a limited amount of time.
In evaluating Certify, Deer Park realized that by
streamlining and automating their data validation
process, and applying Certify’s rules-based
certification capabilities to their student information
system on an ongoing basis, they could better meet
their state reporting requirements without the time
pressures they had experienced in the past. Certify
provides a base of hundreds of data validations to
assist Texas districts with their state reporting
requirements, known as the Public Education Information
Management System (PEIMS).
Said Sue Pike, director of information services for
Deer Park Independent School District, “based
on what we’ve learned during our initial implementation
of Certify, we will be able to validate our district’s
data on an ongoing, pro-active basis, so that by the
time we are required to submit data to the Texas Education
Agency, we can do so with a higher level of accuracy,
consistency and completeness, eliminating the need
for re-work and re-submission of data.”
