Certify Class Size: Class Size Amendment Compliance Monitoring for Florida School Districts
How does Certify Class Size work?

Certify Class Size is a highly automated reporting application which performs the Florida DOE Class Size calculations on a nightly basis – or more frequently, if desired. The application runs automatically against FLDOE Survey 2 and Survey 3 submission files, as well as FLDOE reference data, such as the FISH codes.

Once Certify Class Size performs its scheduled Class Size calculations, email notifications are automatically sent to school personnel, such as principals, assistant principals and registrars; as well as designated district office personnel, in areas such as student accounting, budget, personnel or curriculum and instruction. The email notification signals to each school that classrooms have been identified as being over the Class Size limit, or that problems with Class Size reporting data have been found. District office personnel receive notification about all schools in the district; likewise, Area Superintendents can receive notifications about the schools in their Area. School personnel receive notification about just their school.

Teacher and Student Level Detail
From the email notification, users of Certify Class Size login to view the school or schools for which they are responsible; for each school, users can easily view the classrooms out of compliance and drill down to view courses and sections, with the teachers and students in each classroom. Student records include grade level and indicators for ESE, ELL and Inclusion programs.

Compliance and Data Quality Reports
Certify Class Size includes a report of classrooms which exceed the Class Size limit, and a report showing classrooms which are in compliance. Certify Class Size also includes a report of "Class Size Data Issues" which helps to ensure that the Class Size data reported to FLDOE is complete and accurate. Examples of data issues include students who are scheduled in more than one class during a period; and classes which have no teacher indicated.

District-wide Metrics
In addition to detailed reports of classrooms, district office users of Certify Class Size can view a summary of all the schools out of compliance and how many classrooms in each school are affected; as well as how many students are included in the overage, district-wide – to aid in calculating hiring requirements and potential penalties.
